Thanksgiving Day Dinner for Shelter Animals

Imagine a Thanksgiving where tails are wagging amongst purrs and barks of excitement. You’ll find that on Thanksgiving Day at the Humane Society of Central Oregon (HSCO). Volunteers and staff will serve a specially prepared meal and graciously donated by J DUB Restaurant and Bar.

The celebration goes far beyond the dinner plate. The dogs will get special Thanksgiving flavored interactive Kong toys, extra walks, and play time. The cats will enjoy time out of their kennels playing with volunteers and getting extra love. The small animals will get to stretch their legs and benefit from extra cuddles from our dedicated team of volunteers.

During this time of giving, HSCO wants to ensure that all animals have extra comfort and nourishment despite any economic constraints. From noon to 3:00pm on Thanksgiving Day at the Humane Society of Central Oregon (61170 SE 27th ST, Bend 97702), volunteers will distribute free pet beds and food to pet owners in need. This includes dog and cat food from the HSCO HOPE Pet Food Bank, along with cozy new pet beds generously provided in partnership with Fences for Fido and Greater Good Charities.

“Our goal for this event is to share compassion, community, and connection,” said Lynne Ouchida, Director of Community Partnerships. “In addition to caring for shelter animals, we’re helping pets in our community feel loved and supported too. It’s about ensuring not only the well-being of animals but also strengthening the bond between pets and the people who love them.”
