ODE received formal notification from the U.S. Department of Education that the agency’s more than $2.5-million COVID-era, congressionally appropriated dollars earmarked to help teachers improve student’s literacy and math skills were terminated, effective March 28th, ten months earlier than anticipated.

Despite the urgency of recent state and national assessment data suggesting that Oregon must provide resources to support high-quality instruction in literacy and math, the following student-centered instructional projects must be shut down due to these unexpected financial terminations:

One example of the work underway through this funding is the Oregon Instructional Frameworks Website, which provides literacy materials and resources for educators across the state.

ODE has begun notifying participants who were involved with designing and implementing these projects and will continue evaluating the impacts of these terminations. ODE remains committed to making sure students have the tools and resources to thrive, to continue our vision for serving each and every scholar receiving education in Oregon.
