Oregon State University will host a market sounding webinar event to provide updates and gather feedback in preparation for soliciting a master developer to lead the development of the first phase of the future innovation district at OSU-Cascades.
The webinar will take place from 10 to 11 a.m. on March 20 and registration is required.
The 24-acre innovation district is designed to advance collaborations between the university, industry, community and state that can accelerate economic growth. It aims to create opportunities for businesses, entrepreneurs, researchers and students to accelerate technology and other solutions in one of the fastest-growing regions in Oregon.
“We anticipate the feedback we gather at this market sounding will inform OSU’s approach to secure a master developer for the first phase of the development of the innovation district,” said Rebecca Robinson, associate vice president for economic development and industry relations, and senior advisor for strategic initiatives at OSU-Cascades.
A master developer’s role could include advancing the project financing, design, construction and management of the first two buildings planned in the first phase of the district’s development. The first of the two buildings is proposed as an approximately 100,000 square-foot multi-family residential space; the second is an approximately 60,000 square-foot mixed-use commercial space.
The district is located on a former demolition landfill. Land remediation is complete for the first eight acres of the project and infrastructure construction, including roadways and utilities, is now underway.
Following the market sounding, campus planners anticipate release of a solicitation to select a master developer in summer 2025. Construction of the first phase is anticipated to begin in 2028.
