A Winter Storm Watch remains in effect from Thursday evening to Saturday afternoon. Heavy snow possible for the East Slopes of the Cascades. Total snow accumulations of 6 to 12 inches possible, heaviest above 4000 to 4500 feet. Winds could gust as high as 40 mph.

WHERE…East Slopes of the Oregon Cascades.

WHEN…From Thursday evening through Saturday afternoon.

IMPACTS…Significant snowfall with periods of heavy snowfall rates will combine with low visibility to create very difficult driving conditions. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Snow levels will rise from around 4000 feet Thursday night to around 5000 feet Friday afternoon. Snow levels will then lower to around 3000 feet and lower Friday night onward.

Monitor the latest forecasts for updates on this situation. Persons should consider delaying all travel. If travel is absolutely necessary, drive with extreme caution. Consider taking a winter storm kit along with you, including such items as tire chains, booster cables, flashlight, shovel, blankets and extra clothing. Also take water, a first aid kit, and anything else that would help you survive in case you become stranded.
